GOLS Certified

Global Organic Latex Standard

GOLS — the Global Organic Latex Standard — is the world's highest certification for natural latex. To qualify, a latex product must contain at least 95% certified organic raw material by weight. The entire supply chain is audited, from the rubber plantation through manufacturing, to verify no synthetic latex, fillers, or harmful chemicals are present. Our latex is sourced from Arpico in Sri Lanka, one of the few plantations in the world to hold GOLS certification. When you see this label, the latex inside is genuinely organic — not a marketing claim.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

Tested for harmful substances

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is one of the most rigorous textile safety certifications in the world, administered by an independent network of testing institutes. Every single component of a certified product — fabrics, threads, fillings, and accessories — is laboratory tested against more than 1,000 substances known to harm human health, including formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticides, and phthalates. Unlike many certifications that apply only to part of a product, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 covers the finished item in its entirety. If it's on the label, every layer passed.

ECO Institut

Low emissions, no synthetics

The eco-INSTITUT is an independent German laboratory that certifies mattresses and bedding for low emissions, low pollutants, and freedom from dangerous chemicals. Their testing covers volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, heavy metals, nitrosamines, and other harmful substances — going well beyond what most manufacturers are legally required to disclose. For latex specifically, eco-INSTITUT confirms that the polymer content is genuine natural rubber and not blended with synthetic latex. It is a particularly important certification for people with allergies, chemical sensitivities, or respiratory concerns.

GOTS Certified

Organic cotton & wool verified

GOTS — the Global Organic Textile Standard — is the leading certification for organic fibers like cotton and wool. To earn the GOTS label, at least 95% of fiber content must be certified organic, and the entire supply chain from farm to finished product is independently audited. This covers not just the raw fiber, but also dyeing, finishing, and manufacturing — prohibiting toxic bleaches, synthetic pesticides, and hazardous processing chemicals. It also enforces fair labor standards throughout. Our organic cotton cover and New Zealand wool are GOTS certified, meaning what wraps you at night is as clean as the latex beneath.

Why People Choose Latex

☁️

Cooler Sleep

Natural open-cell rubber circulates air and disperses body heat — unlike memory foam which traps warmth and off-gasses.

🛠️

Long-Term Durability

A quality handmade latex build can last 20–30 years. No sagging, no body impressions, no replacing every few years.

🌿

Pressure Relief

Buoyant, responsive support reduces pressure points without the stuck-in-the-bed feeling of slow-response foams.

What's Inside Matters

Most mattresses look the same from the outside. The real difference is what's inside — and we show you every layer before you buy.

Organic cotton cover
Our cover is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton — grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. It's breathable, soft against skin, and free of chemical treatments. Cotton is the first thing your body contacts every night, so we start clean. Conventional mattress covers often use polyester blends and chemical finishes that off-gas over time. Ours does neither.
New Zealand wool
Note: New Zealand wool is not included in every build. It is a featured layer in our Nostalgia 1950's Collection — not in all configurations. Ask Spencer which builds include wool before ordering.

Where it is used, New Zealand wool is one of the finest natural comfort materials available. It wicks moisture, regulates temperature year-round, resists dust mites and mold naturally, and acts as a chemical-free flame barrier — eliminating the need for fiberglass or fire-retardant sprays. It is soft, durable, and completely free of synthetic treatments. If you want wool in your build, we can include it. Just ask.
Talalay latex comfort
Talalay latex is the comfort layer — the material you feel first when you lie down. It is made from natural rubber processed using the Talalay method, which produces a lighter, more buoyant feel than Dunlop. Talalay contours to pressure points at the shoulders and hips, providing plush relief without the slow-sinking sensation of memory foam. It responds instantly when you move, keeps air circulating, and does not off-gas chemicals. Our Churchill Natural Collection features Talalay as its primary comfort layer.
Natural Dunlop support
Natural latex sap being tapped from a rubber tree Dunlop latex begins here — pure white sap tapped directly from the Hevea brasiliensis rubber tree, harvested much like maple syrup. It is the foundation of the mattress — the dense, supportive core that keeps your spine properly aligned and prevents the sinking that leads to back pain. It is the original latex manufacturing process, dating to the 1920s, and remains the only method by which fully GOLS-certified organic latex can be produced. Our Dunlop is sourced from Arpico in Sri Lanka — one of the world's most respected certified organic rubber producers. Denser than Talalay, Dunlop is exceptionally durable with a realistic lifespan of 20 to 30 years without body impressions or breakdown.
Individually wrapped coils
Individually wrapped pocket coils are the base support system in our hybrid builds. Unlike traditional interconnected innersprings, each coil moves independently — which means it responds to your body's specific weight and position rather than transferring motion across the mattress. This eliminates the "roll together" problem couples experience with conventional coils. The pocket coil system also promotes airflow through the base of the mattress, keeping the entire build cooler. They are made from mineral-based steel with no synthetic coatings or chemical treatments.
Reinforced edge support
Edge support is the perimeter reinforcement built into the mattress border. Without it, the edges of a mattress compress and collapse over time — making it feel smaller and causing the mattress to degrade faster along the sides. Our reinforced edge support maintains a firm, consistent perimeter that lets you use the full sleeping surface of the mattress, sit on the edge without it bottoming out, and extend the life of the overall build. It is a mark of quality construction that mass-produced mattresses routinely skip to cut costs.
